Keep More of What You Earn
This tool shows the savings. Our Small Business Deductions Guide shows you how to claim them the right way, with the write offs owners miss most, simple records that hold up if the IRS ever asks, and a plain english walkthrough of the home office, mileage, and Section 179 rules.
Guide coming soonThis estimate models a sole proprietor who files a Schedule C. It uses the 2026 federal tax brackets, the standard deduction for your filing status, and self employment tax, which is 15.3 percent on most business profit. Because your write offs lower your business profit, they cut both your income tax and your self employment tax, and this tool adds up both savings. The home office figure uses the simplified method at $5 per square foot up to 300 square feet, mileage uses the 2026 rate of 72.5 cents per mile, and equipment is treated as fully written off this year under Section 179, which carries a high yearly limit that most small businesses never reach.
Your real result can differ. This does not include the qualified business income deduction, state taxes, or tax credits, and it assumes these are ordinary and necessary business costs you actually paid. Treat it as a helpful estimate to plan around, not a filing. This is general information, not tax advice, so check with a tax professional before you act.
